The Bears start conference play with a win for the second time in three seasons
CINCINNATI, Ohio – Baylor women's tennis kicked off Big 12 action with a 5-2 at Cincinnati on Friday afternoon.
The win marked the second time in three seasons that the Bears have started league play with a victory.
Danielle Tuhten and Miska Kadleckova earned their sixth doubles win of the season, moving to 6-2 on the year and 5-1 at the No. 2 position, but the Bearcats took courts one and three for the early advantage.
Baylor bounced back and tallied its first point with a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep by Kadleckova on No. 1. A straight-set win by Zuzanna Kubacha on court four pushed the Bears ahead before a 6-4, 6-1 decision from Isabella Harvison on court three gave BU a 3-1 lead.
Cincinnati collected its second point of the match with a win on court two, but a 7-5. 6-0 win by Zuzanna Frankowska on court six clinched the conference-opening win for the Bears. Tuhten's 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 win at the No. 5 position gave Baylor the 5-2 victory to start league play undefeated.
The Bears continue conference play on the road when they travel to face West Virginia at 10 a.m. CT on Sunday.
