
No. 19 MGOLF Primed for Big 12 Match Play

The two-time champion Bears open with match against UCF
Hockley, TEXAS – Baylor men's golf will open play at the 2023 Big 12 Match Play on Monday morning against UCF at Houston Oaks Golf Club.
The No. 3 overall seed, BU will play 54 holes of pool play, followed by 36 holes of bracket play. Teams will accrue points in the three pool-play matches and be seeded in bracket play based on the points earned. Baylor's last Big 12 Match Play title came in 2020, and head coach Mike McGraw looks forward to this tournament every season.
"This is always one of our favorite events each year," McGraw said. "It is great to see Big 12 competition early in the year."
Johnny Keefer is making his fifth appearance at the Big 12 Match Play and boasts an 11-6-4 record in the event. Playing at No. 1, Keefer already has two top-10 finishes this season.
Luke Dossey will play at No. 2 this week at Houston Oaks. The fifth-year senior has two previous appearances in Hockley, holding three wins in his two appearances.
Trey Bosco will play at No. 3 this week, marking his third appearance in the event. The senior shot his best round of the season last time out, with a 1-over 71 in the second round of the Fighting Illini Invitational.
Zach Heffernan will play the Big 12 Match Play for the third time in his career. Playing out of the No. 4 spot, the junior has collected a win in his two previous appearances.
Davis Ovard will play at No. 5 in his match play debut this week. In his last start, the freshman shot three rounds at par or better en route to a tie for fourth at the MCC River Classic.
