Trip to Bryan marks the penultimate regular-season event
BRYAN, Texas – Baylor men's golf will return to action with a trip to Traditions Golf Club and the Aggie Invitational on Saturday morning.
In its first event since winning the Bear Brawl late last month, Baylor will make its second-straight appearance and 11th overall at Traditions Golf Club, with its best showing being runner-up in 2017. Head coach Mike McGraw is looking forward to taking his team to a familiar track just down Highway 6 in the Brazos Valley.
"We are really looking forward to competing at Traditions Golf Club," he said. "It is a course that most of our guys have competed on multiple times as junior golfers. It's been over two weeks since we have competed as a team, so we are ready to get back to it."
Ranked No. 29 in the latest Golfstat individual rankings, Johnny Keefer will play out of the No. 1 spot for the ninth-straight time this season, fresh off going 1-1 in the Bear Brawl to help BU to its first tournament title of the season.
Mark Reppe will take his familiar position behind Keefer at the No. 2 spot for the sixth time in 2021-22. In his last start, the senior secured what proved to be critical points in both of his matches at the Bear Brawl.
At the No. 3 position, Zach Heffernan will make his fifth start of the season in the lineup. His four other starts have all come at No. 5.
Fresh off the best tournament of his career at the DBU Classic this week, Drew Wrightson will play at No. 4 this weekend. The freshman recorded the first top-5 of his career in Denton earlier this week on the strength of a pair of 68s in the second and third rounds, setting his new career-low score.
Luke Morgan will return to the lineup at the No. 5 position, making his fifth start of the season. This spring, the sophomore has shot par or better in five of his eight stroke-play events.
Luke Dossey will make his second start of the season as an individual. Dossey finished in a tie for 14th at the DBU Classic earlier this week, tying his career-best round of 69, which he set at the Aggie Invitational in 2021. Dossey's third-place finish in 2021 at the Aggie is the best of his career.
The 54-hole event will begin with 36 holes on Saturday, followed by 18 holes in the final round on Sunday. Each day will feature a shotgun-style start at 7:30 a.m., with live scoring available at Golfstat.com.
