Sophomore Mark Reppe holds individual lead at 4-under 68

HUMBLE, Texas – Baylor men's golf is one shot back of the lead after shooting 4-under-par 284 in Sunday's first round of the All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston.
The No. 37-ranked Bears (-4) trail only Sam Houston State (-5). BU leads Houston (-2), UTSA (-1), Charlotte (-1), Rice (+4), No. 34 South Carolina (+4), No. 49 Ole Miss (+5), Louisiana-Lafayette (+6), UT Arlington (+7), North Texas (+7), McNeese State (+9), New Mexico State (+12) and Lamar (+15).
Sophomore Mark Reppe, who is making his first appearance in a five-player Baylor lineup, leads the 84-player field after carding a 4-under 68. The Bears started on the back-9, and Reppe made birdies on No. 10 and No. 12 to get to 2-under. After a bogey on No. 14, Reppe strung together five consecutive pars before pulling away with four straight birdies between the second and fifth holes to move to 5-under. He finished with another birdie on No. 7 between bogeys on Nos. 6 and 9.
Junior Colin Kober posted the Bears' second-best round of the day at 1-under 71 to sit in a tie for 13th place. Senior Garrett May carded even-par 72 to tie for 16th place, and junior Cooper Dossey recorded BU's final counting score with a 1-over 73 to tie for 25th place.
Senior Braden Bailey started with a quadruple bogey on No. 10, but he played the rest of the round at 1-under to finish at 3-over 75 in a tie for 53rd place. Sophomore Ryan Grider and redshirt junior Austin Cotton are competing as individuals, with Grider tied for 25th place at 1-over 73 and Cotton tie for 79th place at 8-over 80.

- May leads all players in par-5 scoring at 4-under 4.00 after carding birdies on all four par-5 holes.
- May is also tied for the tournament lead in par-3 scoring at 1-under 2.75, while Dossey and Grider are tied for sixth at even-par 3.00.
- Grider is tied for seventh in par-5 scoring at 2-under 4.50.
- Reppe leads the field with seven birdies, while May is tied for fifth with five birdies and Kober is tied for 10th with four birdies.
