RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - Baylor women's golf fell 3-2 against BYU in Tuesday's match play action at SDSU March Mayhem at The Farms Golf Club.
Freshman Diane Baillieux and senior Amy Lee both won their matches, but junior Maria Vesga, sophomore Fiona Liddell and freshman Laila Hrindova were defeated.
Baillieux took a 3-and-1 win over BYU's Naomi Soifua. Baillieux and Soifua alternated wins over the first seven holes, leaving Soifua 1-up through seven. After halving the next three holes, Baillieux took a 2-up lead by making three consecutive birdies to win the 11th, 12th and 13th holes. Soifua cut into the deficit by winning the 15th hole, but Baillieux won the 16th and 17th holes to claim the victory.
Lee fell behind early in her match against Anna Kennedy, but made a late charge to take a 1-up victory. Kennedy won the seventh and eighth holes to take a 2-up lead, and she added a win on the 12th hole to go 3-up with only six holes remaining. After halving the 13th hole, Lee won the next four holes to take a 1-up lead, and she halved the 18th hole to secure the win.

Huang won the 14th and 17th hole to bring the match all-square, and she claimed a 1-up victory by winning the 18th hole.
Vesga fell 2-and-1 in her match against Annie Yang. Vesga won the first hole, but Yang brought the match all-square with a win on the third hole, and Yang took the lead for good with a win on the fourth hole. Vesga won the seventh hole to cut Yang's lead to 1-up, where it remained through through 11 holes, but Yang won the 12th and 13th holes to go 3-up. Vesga remained 3-down with three remaining, and she won the 16th hole to extend the match, but a halve on the 17th hole gave Yang the victory.

Hrindova took and early lead by winning the first hole, but she would ultimately be undone with six bogeys in a seven-hole stretch on the ninth through 15 holes.
