May 20, 2017 NCAA Softball Waco Regional - Game 5 Quotes
JAMES MADISON QUOTES
Junior P Megan Good
On playing Baylor again…
"Coach Dean just told us that tomorrow is all about one pitch at a time. We can't control what we can't control, so we will just take it one pitch at a time and see where it leads us."
Head Coach Mickey Dean
On the game…
"It was a battle. We've watched Kent State and they have a very good team. I was a little frustrated with us in the first three innings. I didn't think we had very good plate-presence. Against Baylor we didn't advance any runners and here we go we are doing the same thing in the second game. Then we kind of found our groove and started moving runners."
On his pitchers…
"I thought they did an amazing job. Megan (Good) only threw 64 pitches in that first game, that's unheard of. That's why I allowed her to go as long as she did in the second game. Then Odicci Alexander came in and did exactly what she has been doing for the last month and a half."
KENT STATE QUOTES
Head Coach Eric Oakley:
On how he felt about the girls performance throughout the weekend…
"I think we played pretty well, obviously we would have liked to have hit the ball more collectively, and I think that was the biggest difference. We just didn't have the at bats, but we also saw some really good pitcher. When you get to this point your going to see some great pitchers. Megan Good is one of the best pitchers in the country and she handled us pretty well. I thought we put the bat on the ball well but she spins it enough to where you can't hit it clean, and we really didn't hit it clean. I don't know how many strikeouts we had, but I think our approach was better. The first game today the bats finally started coming alive and we were able to put some things together, but all together we felt like we were close in these games, I just wish we could have been in that winners bracket. We had a close game yesterday with Baylor. We were in it for a little while with the one tonight. We wish we could have had better results, but I am proud of my team.
