THE RUNDOWN
FORT WORTH, Texas ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" Baylor baseball lost a 9-4 decision to No. 6 TCU on Friday night at Lupton Stadium in the series opener. The Bears (23-15, 5-8) fought back late but could not overcome the Horned Frogs (29-7, 10-3) early offensive attack.
After missing on good scoring chances in the first, third and fourth innings, the Bears found themselves down 8-0 through five innings. But BU came together late to put pressure on TCU with a run in the sixth on an Aaron Dodson RBI single and a big eighth inning.
In the eighth with two outs, Dodson started the rally with a single and Tucker Cascadden and Richard Cunningham did the same. After a Steven McLean RBI hit-by-pitch, Tucker Johnson roped a two-run single. Then Shea Langeliers walked to bring the tying run to the plate in Andy Thomas, but he grounded out to third to end the rally.
TCU added a run in the bottom of the eighth and the BU bats were retired in order in the bottom of the ninth to end the comeback attempt.
TCU starter Nick Lodolo (4-1) earned the win, allowing a run on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings. BU starter Nick Lewis (4-4) took the loss, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits and five walks with three strikeouts in four innings.

QUOTE OF THE GAME
"When you give a team as talented as TCU is free bases, it's going to come back to bite you at some point. I thought our guys did a good job of battling back and taking some great at-bats later in the game. I'd like to see that type of fight at the beginning of the game, but at the same time, knowing that we have that fight in us is a good sign." ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" Head Coach Steve Rodriguez
