THE RUNDOWN
BRYAN, Texas -- Baylor men's golf finished in second place at the 2017 Aggie Invitational after Sunday's final round at Traditions Golf Club was cancelled due to storms in the area. The Bears finished at 10-under-par 566, one stroke back of No. 8 LSU (-11).
The No. 4-ranked Bears (-10) earned wins against eight top-50 ranked teams, including No. 17 Texas A&M (+1), No. 2 Oklahoma State (+4), No. 18 Texas (+5), No. 29 North Carolina (+5), No. 7 Kent State (+13), No. 13 Texas Tech (+16), No. 46 Michigan (+18) and No. 25 Arkansas (+18). BU also finished ahead of North Texas (+19), UTSA (+37) and New Mexico State (+41).
Cooper Dossey and Garrett May tied for second place in the 75-player field at 5-under-par 139, one stroke back of medalist Kyle Mueller (-6) of Michigan. Matthew Perrine tied for eighth place at 2-under 142, Hunter Shattuck tied for 19th at 2-over 146 and Braden Bailey tied for 43rd at 6-over 150.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Baylor earned an 11-1 head-to-head record in the tournament, improving to 93-14 on the season and 88-5 over its last seven events.
- Baylor has finished in first or second place in each of its four spring tournaments and has earned a top-three finish in seven consecutive tournaments.
- Matthew Perrine earned his sixth consecutive top-10 finish. He leads the team with six top-10 finishes on the season.
- Perrine extended his streak of rounds at par or better to 14 straight, covering every round over the last five tournaments. He leads the team with 17 rounds at par or better this season.
- Cooper Dossey recorded his fifth top-10 finish in the last six events.
- Garrett May extended his streak of rounds at par or better to six straight, and he has shot par or better in nine of 11 rounds during the spring season.
