WACO, Texas -- The 45th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team will face a pair of Big 12 Conference foes, Iowa State and West Virginia, over the weekend at the Hurd Tennis Center.

The Bears (14-13, 3-3 Big 12) will host the Cyclones (14-5, 2-3 Big 12) at 5 p.m. Friday, before welcoming the Mountaineers (6-10, 0-5 Big 12) for a 11:30 a.m. match Sunday.

"We will have our hands full this weekend," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "Every match for us is a championship match and has an impact on our NCAA tournament push."

BU won a pair of matches on Wednesday by downing Incarnate Word, 4-1, and upsetting No. 41 Rice, 4-2, in Waco. Baylor has now won nine of its last 11 matches overall and boasts an 11-7 record at home this season.

The Bears are led by the 10th-ranked duo of Kiah Generette and Blair Shankle, who have won seven of their last eight matches. Shankle is also ranked No. 89 in singles.

Iowa State is coming off of a 4-2 loss to Kansas Sunday at home. BU has never lost to Iowa State, holding a 20-0 advantage against the Cyclones in the all-time series. Last season, the captured a 4-0 shutout over ISU in Ames on March 29.

"Iowa State has a really good team this year," Scrivano added. "They have out-performed expectations in the Big 12 and will be gunning for us."

West Virginia will play Texas Saturday in Austin, before coming to Waco to face BU on Sunday. The Mountaineers dropped a 4-2 decision to Kansas State Sunday in Morgantown in their last match out. BU leads the all-time series 3-0 against WVU. Last season, the Bears took a 4-3 victory in Morgantown on March 27.

"West Virginia played us right down to the wire last season," Scrivano said. "Obviously, they can play at a high level on any given day.

Sunday's match will also serve as Senior Day for the Bears as they will recognize lone senior Kiah Generette before singles action begins.

Admission to all home regular season matches is free.

Live results and a live video stream will be available at BaylorBears.com for both of the matches with a live blog available as well.

Prior to both contests, the team will host a session of the Baylor Cub Tennis Program at 4 p.m. and 10:30 a.m., respectively. Children 11-years-old and under can come to the Hurd Tennis Center to receive free basic tennis instruction

After this weekend's action, the Bears will play their final regular season match against Texas at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 23.
