SHEPPARD AND CUNNINGHAM CARRYING OFFENSE
Darryn Sheppard went 10-for-17 (.588) in four games for Baylor last week along with eight runs, one double, two home runs, 11 RBI, 1.000 slugging percentage, two walks, .600 on-base percentage and one steal. He had a walk on Wednesday vs. UT Arlington. In Friday's win over Stony Brook, he set a career high with five hits as he was 5-for-6 with three runs and two RBI for his team-high second multi-RBI game, extending his on-base streak to four games. In Saturday's win over SBU, his two home runs marked the second time he has done so in his career and he's also the last Baylor player to accomplish the feat, doing so on May 3, 2015, at Kansas ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" he now has two on the season and eight in his career. His five runs scored were a career high and he became the first BU player to do so since Logan Vick did the same vs. UT Arlington on April 14, 2010. His six RBI were also a career high and he became the first BU player to have six RBI in a game since Grayson Porter did at Oklahoma on May 4, 2014. Going 4-for-5 at the plate, Sheppard also had his team-high third multi-RBI game, extending his on-base streak to five games. Sheppard's eight straight at-bats with hits from Friday and Saturday were the most since Adam Toth did the same from April 27-29, 2014. In Sunday's win over SBU, he went 1-for-3 with three RBI for his team-high fourth multi-RBI game, extending his on-base streak to six games and giving him a three-game hitting streak.
Richard Cunningham went 4-for-14 (.286) in four games for Baylor last week along with six runs, one triple, one home run, eight RBI, .643 slugging percentage, five walks and .500 on-base percentage. He went 1-for-4 vs. UT Arlington on Wednesday. In Friday's win over Stony Brook, he set career highs with three runs and three walks as he extended his on-base streak to five games. In Saturday's win over SBU, his eight RBI were a career high and he became the first BU player to have eight or more RBI since Charley Carter set the school record with nine at UTSA on April 1, 1998. He set a career high with three hits and tied a career high with three runs scored for the second straight game as he extended his on-base streak to six games. He had his first career triple and second homer of the season and his career. In Sunday's win over SBU, he had a walk to extend his on-base streak to seven games.
