Feb. 28, 2016 WACO, Texas ÃÆ' ¢Ãƒ ¢' ¬" The Baylor women's golf team is headed to Miami, Fla., to play in the Hurricane Invitational, hosted by the University of Miami. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played Monday through Wednesday on the par-71, 6,080-yard Biltmore Golf Course.
Baylor enters the Hurricane invitational ranked 66th nationally, after opening the spring season with a 14th-place finish at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.
BU's lineup features Laura Lonardi, Natalia Perez, Giovana Maymon, Maria Vesga and Maggie Beth Byers. Tee times for Monday's first round begin at 6:30 a.m. CT. Baylor players will be paired with golfers from Texas State and Louisville.
Byers is up first at 7:50 a.m., and she'll be followed in eight-minute intervals by Vesga, Maymon, Perez and Lonardi, respectively, all starting at the first tee. Lauren Whyte is playing as an individual and will tee off at 8:06 a.m. from the 10th hole.
The 16-team field includes Baylor, No. 38 East Carolina, Florida International, No. 16 Iowa State, No. 32 Louisville, No. 43 Miami (Fla.), No. 48 Michigan, Minnesota, No. 7 Northwestern, Oklahoma, No. 39 Purdue, South Florida, Texas State, No. 17 Texas Tech, No. 46 Tulane and Virginia Tech.
