WACO, Texas -- The 15th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team will look to bounce back from its first loss of the season by traveling to face No. 48 Tulsa Saturday at noon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.

"We have an opportunity to respond from a loss the right way," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "Successful teams learn from their losses and improve because of it. Tulsa is an NCAA tournament and conference championship team. They are a strong team and will push us to get better and tougher. I'm sure the team is ready to get back on the court and compete."

In their last match out, the Bears (3-1) dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 9 Texas A&M Wednesday at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center. Prior to that defeat, Baylor had opened the season with three-straight victories, including a 4-3 win at Hawai'i in its only road match of the year.

BU newcomer Gabriela Ferreira and senior Kiah Generette are off to 2-1 starts in singles. The duo of Blair Shankle and Kiah Generette, ranked No. 12 in the nation, is off to a 1-0 start.

The No. 48-ranked Golden Hurricane is 5-1 overall. Last weekend, TU took down No. 53-ranked Marshall, 4-0, before falling to No. 5-ranked North Carolina, 4-0, as part of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The Bears lead the all-time series against Tulsa, 5-0, including a 4-0 mark under Scrivano. BU last beat Tulsa 4-0 on Feb. 1, 2014.

Former BU All-American Lenka Broosova is an assistant coach at Tulsa. The Bears will be playing on the same courts where the NCAA Tennis Championships will be held in May.

Following the match against the Golden Hurricane, Baylor will host Oregon Feb. 5 at 5 p.m.
