2015 Baseball Summer League Update

WACO, Texas - With Baylor baseball's season ending about a month ago, 18 of the returning players for 2016 have been playing in various summer collegiate leagues across the country. The yearly tradition allows players to keep improving their skills in a live-game atmosphere against some of the country's top talent. Below are the current assignments and achievements for the Bears in action.

Richard Cunningham and Cameron Miller are playing for the So Cal Catch in the California Collegiate League (CCL). Through 23 games, Cunningham is hitting .293 with three RBI while Miller has four RBI.

Theron Kay is also in the CCL, but with the Neptune Beach Pearl. Kay is currently 2-0 and holds a 1.56 ERA.

Aaron Dodson, Kameron Esthay and Steven McLean are all playing for the Harrisonburg Turks in the Valley Baseball League. Through 13 games Dodson is batting .265 with two triples, two home runs and six RBI. Esthay is batting .239 with three doubles and six RBI. McLean is batting .256 with two doubles and three RBI.

Justin Arrington (Hyannis Harbor Hawks), Daniel Castano (Chatham Anglers), Nick Lewis (Cotuit Kettleers) and Darryn Sheppard (Wareham Gatemen) are in the Cape Cod League. Though nine games Arrington is batting .304 while Sheppard is batting .214 with two doubles and two RBI.

Jonathan Ducoff and Matt Menard are both playing for the Holyoke Blue Sox of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Ducoff is batting .222 with one home run and two RBI for the Blue Sox.

Kody Hessemer, who is playing for the Lakeshore Chinooks in the Northwoods League, is 1-2 on the season with 24 strikeouts and a 3.74 ERA.

Rounding out the other summer leaguers, Blake Allen is 1-0 with a 1.86 ERA for the Albany Dutchmen. Lane Kelly is batting .259 through three games with the Austin Gold Sox. Troy Montemayor is 2-0 with 13 strikeouts and a 1.63 ERA with the Hornell Dodgers. Joe Sabatini is batting .300 with two doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI with the Bethany Bulls. West Tunnell is batting .317 with six doubles, one triple, two home runs and 19 RBI with the Bend Elks.
