WACO, Texas - Baylor senior outfielder Logan Brown was named to the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District VII first team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.

The Rowlett, Texas, native is one of 11 members of the District VII first team and one of 88 first team choices among Division I schools. Brown garnered the honor for the second time in his career as he was also a first-team All-District VII honoree in 2013.

Brown's selection extends Baylor's run of having at least one academic all-district student-athlete to 10 seasons. Since 1998, the only year the Bears did not have a recipient of the honor was in 2005, and 2002, 2004 and 2013 are the only other years BU has had just one honoree.

The electrical engineering major with a 3.77 GPA is having a career season in 2015. He's started all 46 games for the Bears in center field and is hitting a career high .304 at the plate. With four games left in the regular season Brown has set career marks in runs (29), hits (55), doubles (10), triples (1), RBI (17), total bases (67), slugging percentage (.370), walks (15), on-base percentage (.371) and steals (17). His 17 steals rank second in the Big 12 and 72nd in the NCAA this season. In the field, he's made just one error in 143 chances and has a career-best six assists.

With Brown's first-team nod, he moves onto the Capital One Academic All-America ballot. To be eligible for academic all-district teams, student-athletes must be starters or important reserves with at least 3.30 cumulative grade point averages on a scale of 4.00. Candidates also must complete at least one full academic year at the nominating institution and be at least sophomores athletically. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
