Final Stats

THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas
- Baylor (11-14, 3-4) earned a 3-0 win over Oklahoma (17-11, 2-2) Friday night at Baylor Ballpark. The Bears rode starter Daniel Castano as he threw a complete game shutout.

Baylor started the game quickly as Logan Brown led off with a single and stole second. Mitch Price then delivered a two-out RBI single to give the Bears all the support they needed.

In the fifth, BU added to its lead with a pair of runs. Jonathan Ducoff led off with a single and scored on Levi Gilcrease's sacrifice bunt attempt as OU starter Jake Elliott threw wildly down the right field line to put Gilcrease at third. Steven McLean scored Gilcrease on the next play with a sac fly for a 3-0 lead.

Castano (2-3) earned the win, allowing no runs on five hits and five walks with four strikeouts in a career-high nine innings, and picked up his first career shutout to become the first Baylor pitcher to throw a complete game shutout since 2011 (Logan Verrett) and first to do so in Big 12 play since 2008 (Shawn Tolleson). Elliott (3-3) took the loss, surrendering three runs on seven hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts in seven innings.

TWEET OF THE GAME

QUOTE OF THE GAME
"No, not even close [to Daniel Castano's best game at Baylor]. He had five walks and four strikeouts - that wasn't the best I have ever seen but he competed. I don't think he had a 1-2-3 inning the whole game. It really seemed like they weren't seeing him very well. He was just kind of effectively wild. He was up a little bit in the zone, and there were quite a lot of fly ball outs in the game. On a night when nothing is really going, he competed as well as he has competed all year, as did their guy." - Baylor head coach Steve Smith

WHAT'S NEXT
The teams continue the series at 3 p.m. CT tomorrow and 1 p.m. Sunday. The pitching matchup for Saturday features BU RHP Drew Tolson (0-5, 5.02 ERA) vs. OU RHP Alec Hansen (3-2, 3.34 ERA) while both teams have yet to announce a Sunday starter.
