BAYLOR VS. WEST VIRGINIA SERIES
West Virginia leads the all-time series vs. Baylor 3-2 overall and under Steve Smith but the Bears lead 2-1 in Waco. In the teams' first series in 2013, BU took two of three in Waco but the Mountaineers took both games in Morgantown in 2014 as one game was washed away by weather.
BAYLOR IN BIG 12 HOME OPENERS
Since the Big 12's inaugural season in 1997, Baylor has done well in the league's first home game and home series. In Big 12 home opening games, BU is 10-7 with its last win coming on March 16, 2012, against Texas Tech. In Big 12 home opening series, the Bears are 14-3 and have won two straight. The last league home opening series loss for BU was March 18-20, 2011, against TTU.
FRESH FACES SETTING THE PACE
Partially due to injuries, Baylor's underclassmen have 67 percent of the team's at-bats and 64 percent of the team's innings pitched. The Bears' team leaders in homers (Aaron Dodson), slugging percentage (Dodson, .483), doubles (Darryn Sheppard, 7), ERA (Daniel Castano, 2.52), wins (Theron Kay, 2) and innings pitched (Drew Tolson, 32.1) are all underclassmen.
BAYLOR BALLPARK'S HOME SWEET HOME ADVANTAGE
Since the park opened in 1999, Baylor owns a 372-157 record at Baylor Ballpark and has never had a losing season in the stadium. The closest BU came to a losing season was in 2011, when the Bears were 16-14 at Baylor Ballpark. Since 2012, BU has won 14 of its 19 home series. The Bears are 6-3 at home this year and have won both series thus far (3-0 vs. No .13 Cal Poly | 2-1 vs. Kent State).
BAYLOR AGAINST THE BIG 12 CONFERENCE
As one of the league's founding members in 1997, Baylor owns a 488-552-4 record against the current members of the Big 12 Conference. The Bears own a 268-212 all-time record in regular season play. BU's all-time record against current league foes is as follows: Kansas (46-17), Kansas State (42-21), Oklahoma (39-41), Oklahoma State (37-39), TCU (139-119), Texas (105-234-4), Texas Tech (77-78) and West Virginia (3-2).
