LAREDO, Texas - The Baylor men's golf team is headed to Laredo, Texas, for the 18-team Border Olympics hosted by the University of Houston. The 54-hole event runs Friday and Saturday at the Laredo Country Club.

No. 11 Baylor will be part of an 18-team field that is comprised of 10 teams from the state of Texas. Joining BU in the tournament are No. 31 Houston, No. 47 Sam Houston State, Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, McNeese State, New Mexico State, Pacific, Rice, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas State, UT Arlington, Utah, UTEP and UTSA.

The Bears finished in third place at the event last season, five strokes back of champion Houston (-6). Departed senior Jerry Ruiz (-5) took second place and Andreas Gjesteby (-2) placed fourth.

Baylor's lineup features Kyle Jones, Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen, Gjesteby, Filippo Zucchetti and Frederik Andersen. Friday's first round will be an 8 a.m. CT shotgun start, with Jones teeing off from No. 1, Bjerch-Andresen and Gjesteby at No. 2, Zucchetti at No. 3 and Andersen at No. 4. BU players are paired with players from Houston, Sam Houston State and Southeastern Louisiana.

Teams will continue play with the same pairings for the second round on Friday, and Saturday's final round is slated for tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
