THE RUNDOWN
LOS ANGELES - UCLA starting pitcher Ally Carda helped her own cause in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday night at Easton Stadium, driving home Allexis Bennett for the game-winning run to beat No. 15 Baylor, 3-2.
Carda tossed a complete-game three-hitter, striking out 14 to improve to 12-3 on the season from the circle, and she delivered a single up the middle with two outs off Heather Stearns in the final frame.
Maddy Jelenicki hit a 2-run homer to break a scoreless tie for the Bruins (24-5) in the bottom of the fifth before Baylor's (14-6) Shelby Friudenberg answered back with a towering two-run homer for the Bears in the top of the seventh to even the score.
However, with two outs, Carda singled up the middle on a 1-2 pitch to score Bennett.
HIGHLIGHTS
? Shelby Friudenberg hit her sixth home run of the season in the top of the seventh inning, which tied her for the team lead.
? Friudenberg's two RBI gave her five games on the season with multiple RBI.
? Ari Hawkins' career-long 13-game on-base streak came to an end.

14 - UCLA's Ally Carda struck out 14 Bears Tuesday night, which was a season high for the BU offense; the Bears did not suffer a double-digit strikeout game in all of 2014.
