Final Stats

THE RUNDOWN
DALLAS
- Baylor (6-9) fell 17-3 to No. 20 Dallas Baptist (11-2) Tuesday evening at Horner Ballpark. The Patriots used a four-run fourth, five-run fifth and four-run sixth to take down the Bears.

Before the game got out of hand, the Bears were down 1-0 with two outs and the bases loaded in the third inning. Unfortunately, Cameron Miller struck out to leave the bases loaded, the Patriots immediately added a run in the bottom half, and never looked back as a heavy flurry of runs were scored by DBU in the next three frames.

In the fourth, the Patriots scored four runs on a Drew Turbin two-run single and Camden Duzenack two-run home run. The DBU fifth featured an RBI single by Nash Knight, RBI double by Turbin and three-run homer by Justin Wall. In the sixth, Chane Lynch had a two-run double and Turbin a two-run single for a 15-0 lead.

DBU added two more in the seventh on singles by Tagg Duce and Knight before the Bears plated three in the ninth on a Ben Carl RBI double and two-run single from West Tunnell.

DBU starter Jay Calhoun (2-0) earned the win after 4.2 shutout innings while allowing four hits and two walks with four strikeouts. BU starter Theron Kay (2-1) took the loss, giving up five runs on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 3.1 innings.

QUOTE OF THE GAME
"The issue here right now is not talent - it's the ability to compete and play and handle failure. Some of these guys have never been on a team where they didn't play and all of a sudden they have to compete at a little bit of a different level, at a much higher level. It's my job to raise that level for them and bring that out of them, and that's what my goal is." - Baylor head coach Steve Smith

WHAT'S NEXT
Baylor continues its 11-game venture away from Baylor Ballpark by opening Big 12 play this weekend at No. 4 TCU. Games are slated for 6:30 p.m. CT Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
