THE RUNDOWN
INDEPENDENCE, MINN. -
The Baylor men's golf team is in first place after shooting 3-over-par 572 over 36 holes on Sunday at the Gopher Invitational. The Bears shot 5-over 289 in the first round and 1-under 283 in the second round to take a 10-shot lead to Monday's final round.

The Bears are 10 strokes ahead of second place California (+14) and 17 strokes ahead of third place Minnesota (+21). Baylor had the tournament's best score in each round, edging out Kent State (291) by two strokes in the first round and California (289) by six strokes in the second round.

Senior Kyle Jones shot even-par 71 in the first round and 2-under in the second round to finish the day in a tie for second place, just three strokes behind individual leader Victor Wiggins of Charlotte. Senior Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen is tied for fourth place at even-par after shooting 3-over in the first round and 3-under in the second round.

Four of five Baylor players finished the day among the top-15 individuals. Junior Andreas Gjesteby is tied for sixth place at 2-over par, while senior Filippo Zucchetti shot 4-over par to finish the day in a tie for 13th place. Senior Niclas Mansson shot 4-over in the second round to move up into a tie for 40th place at 11-over par after two rounds.

HIGHLIGHTS
• The Bears lead the field in par 3 and par 4 scoring, averaging 3.10 and 4.13 per hole, respectively.
• Zucchetti eagled the 18th hole and was one of only five players with an eagle during the first day of competition.
• Bjerch-Andresen leads the field in par-5 scoring with a 4.33 average (-4) on par-5 holes.
• Jones had 30 pars over 36 holes played, the most made by any player in the field. Zucchetti had the second-most pars with 28 on the day.
• Jones and Bjerch-Andresen are second and third in par-4 scoring averaging, at 3.96 and 4.00, respectively.

STAT OF THE ROUND
133 - the number of pars made by the Baylor team, which was 19 more than any other team in the field.

WHAT'S NEXT
Baylor is paired with California and Minnesota for Monday's final round. Tee times for the Bears begin at 9 a.m. CT. First off the tee for BU is Mansson, followed by Zucchetti, Gjesteby, Bjerch-Andresen and Jones in nine-minute intervals, respectively.
