THE RUNDOWN
HOUSTON- Baylor baseball fell 7-2 on Tuesday evening against No. 30 Houston at Cougar Field. The Bears (8-8) scored two in the first but could not hang on as the Cougars (12-3) scored seven unanswered runs.

The game started off in a great way for Baylor with a two-out rally in the first inning. Adam Toth started it with a double. Grayson Porter followed with an RBI single, and after a dropped foul ball error kept Aaron Dodson's at-bat alive, he roped a double to give the Bears a 2-0 edge.

Houston responded in the bottom half with a two-out solo home run by Casey Grayson, and then chipped away at the scoreboard. The Cougars added a run in each of the second, third and fifth innings before putting together a multi-run inning in the seventh.

With one out in the seventh and UH holding a 4-2 lead, Caleb Barker drew a walk off reliever Nick Lewis. An out later, Landon Appling reached on a bunt single and Ashford Fulmer walked to load the bases. Cougar leadoff hitter Kyle Survance made the walks hurt with a two-run single to break open the game.

In the eighth, Houston added another insurance run with help from a two-out walk and RBI single by Barker.

Andrew Lantrip (1-0) earned the win in relief after throwing three hitless innings with a walk and two strikeouts. In his first collegiate start, Drew Tolson (0-3) took the loss, surrendering three runs on five hits and two walks with one strikeout in 2.1 innings.

TWEET OF THE GAME

TOP QUOTE
"They out-pitched us big time. Give their starter credit. They won more pitches in this game than we did. We didn't force them to put the ball in play enough. It's easy to use the excuse of `we are just so young on the mound,' but nobody in the [Big 12] is going to care about that. We have to compete better than we did tonight." - BU head coach Steve Smith
