Men's Golf Finishes Third at Rod Myers Invite

DURHAM, N.C. -
The Baylor men's golf team took third place at the Rod Myers Invitational after shooting 4-under-par 284 in Sunday's final round to finish with a team score of 6-under par 570. Three BU players finished among the top 10 individuals, including Kyle Jones in a tie for second place.

The Bears finished behind first place East Carolina (-15) by nine strokes and second place North Carolina (-8) by five strokes. Baylor entered the final round tied for third place, but BU finished 11 strokes ahead of Duke in fourth place. Charlotte finished off the top five with a final score of 587, shooting 11-over for the tournament.

Jones finished in second place at 5-under par after shooting 2-under 70 in the final round. He has now finished among the top four individuals in all three of Baylor's fall events, and the team has finished among the top three in every event. Senior Filippo Zucchetti finished in a tie for 10th place after posting a final round 2-over 74. Junior Frederik Andersen, who was competing as an individual, also finished in a tie for 10th place at 1-under par.

Senior Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen and junior Andreas Gjesteby finished in a tie for 18th place at 1-over-par 145., while junior Andrew Hans shot even-par on day two, launching him 15 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 27th at a 3-over-par.

HIGHLIGHTS
? The tournament was originally scheduled for 54 holes over two days, but weather issues shortened the event to 36 holes.
? Bjerch-Andresen and Jones tied for second in par-4 scoring with a 3.85 average.
? Hans and Jones made the third-most pars in the 72-player field, posting 26 pars in 36 holes played.
? Zucchetti and Andersen had nine birdies apiece during the tournament, giving them the second-most birdies in the field.
? Zucchetti averaged 4.50 in par-5 scoring, which was the second-best average in the 72-player field.
? The Bears led the field in par-3 scoring averaging 3.18 as a team, along with placing second overall in par-4 scoring averaging 4.04 collectively.
? All six Baylor players finished among the top 30 individuals.
? Five of six Baylor players improved or maintained their overall position in the tournament from day one to day two.

STAT OF THE DAY
117 - the number of pars made by the Bears over the course of two days, which were the most pars made by any of the 12 teams.
