The event is held at the par-72, 6,143-yard University of Texas Golf Club. The 15-team field includes Baylor, Indiana, Iowa State, Miami, Minnesota, New Mexico, San Diego State, SMU, Texas, Tulane, Tulsa, UC Irvine, UNCW, UNLV and UTSA.
"We've played at UT Golf Club the past couple years," head coach Jay Goble said. "Last year the Big 12 Championship was there, and we had a good final round there. The year before that we had a one-day round with SMU and Texas there, so the girls have seen that golf course a lot."
Baylor, which is ranked No. 40 in the latest GolfStat rankings, is competing in the tournament for 10th time in program history. The Lady Bears last played the event in 2008.
"I think after our last two days of play in Oklahoma the girls are feeling more confident," Goble said. "Their games are getting better, they're getting back into a place where they feel like they can compete and they're doing well. I'm excited for this tournament. I think it's a place they feel pretty comfortable because it's only 100 miles down the road, and we're excited to get there."
Baylor's lineup for the Longhorn Invitational features senior Hayley Davis, freshman Giovana Maymon, sophomore Maggie Beth Byers, sophomore Louise Gateau-Chovelon and junior Laura Lonardi. Sophomore Hadas Libman will also compete in the tournament as an individual.
"The girls are getting comfortable with each other and comfortable with their games, and they're working hard," Goble said. "They're feeling good about their golf, feeling good about school and everything is going well."
