Baylor used the momentum to plate four in the bottom half of the inning, as Hays laced an RBI-single through the left side to score Thumann for the 3-0 lead. With one out and runners at second and third, Smith hit a hard grounder passed the second baseman and into right, scoring Shelton. Hosack followed with another RBI-single of her own before Canion belted a long single off the wall in right center to make it 6-0.

Hays ended the game in the sixth with one swing of her bat, as her triple missed going over the fence in left field by inches. Bailey Chalmersand Thumann, who each singled, came around to score for the 8-0 win.

A grounder to short was quickly fired home from Jordan Stricklandfor the second out, and following a walk, Canion got Andie Varsho to fly out to shallow center to end the game and threat.
