SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Baylor's school-record 24-game winning streak came to an end with a 4-1 loss against UTSA on Tuesday night at Wolff Stadium. The loss was the Bears' first since March 13.

No. 3 Baylor (35-8) gave up three runs in the first inning, and that would prove to be all the offense UTSA (18-23) would need to snap the longest winning streak by any Division I team this season.

Austin Stone (2-1) took the loss after allowing four runs on seven hits in a career-long 5.1 innings. Brad Kuntz and Kolt Browder each worked 1.1 innings of shutout relief for the Bears, but the Baylor offense couldn't manage a late rally.

Cal Towey's RBI double in the fourth inning scored Logan Vick to cut UTSA's lead to 3-1, but Roadrunners' starting pitcher Jordan Pacheco escaped the inning without any further damage.

Pacheco (1-2) picked up the win by allowing one run on seven hits in 5.1 innings. Clint Sharp pitched 2.2 innings of shutout relief, and Matt Sims worked a scoreless ninth to earn his sixth save of the season.

Stone ran into trouble in the first inning after issuing consecutive walks with one out. Ryan Dalton's RBI single got UTSA on the board, and a double steal put two runners in scoring position with one out. Stone got the second out with a strikeout, but Daniel Rockett followed with a two-run single to stake Pacheco a three-run lead.

Nathan Orf singled with one out in the fifth, but Lawton Langford hit a sharp liner right to the shortstop on a hit-and-run play that turned into a double play.

Max Muncy's first career bunt single and Vick's second hit of the night put the potential tying run on base with one out in the sixth inning, but Dan Evatt struck out on a wild pitch for the second out, and Muncy was tagged out trying to score from second base when the ball went to the backstop. UTSA added an insurance run in the bottom half on a R.J. Perucki RBI double to extend its lead to 4-1.

Vick led off the ninth inning with a single, but he was stranded on second base when the game ended. He finished the game 3-for-3 with a walk and the Bears' lone run scored, while Nathan Orf went 2-for-4 and Towey collected Baylor's only RBI.

The Bears return home to host UT Arlington for $1 hot dog night at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday. Baylor's last loss prior to the 24-game winning streak came against UTA on March 13. The Bears have won a school-record 17 straight games at home and are 24-3 at Baylor Ballpark this season.
