Three home runs gave No. 7 Oklahoma (26-3, 2-0) a 5-0 win over No. 15 Baylor (21-8, 0-2) Saturday afternoon at Getterman Stadium.
"Give Oklahoma credit because they are a good team," head coach Glenn Moore. "We just have to keep fighting, and I know we will."
Holly Holl and Sydney Wilson each combined for the two Baylor hits.
Liz Paul (6-4) took the loss, allowing five runs, seven hits, two walks while striking out four in 7.0 innings of work.
Michelle Gascoigne (11-0) earned the win, striking out eight, allowing two walks and two hits in 7.0 innings.
Keilani Ricketts gave the Sooners a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run blast over right center.
Lauren Chamberlain added another two-run homer to right center with one out in the third, giving OU a 4-0 lead.
The Lady Bears threatened in the fifth with a leadoff walk from Clare Hosack, followed by a single down the left field line from Holl that put pinch runner Kaitlyn Thumann on second. With one out, Jordan Strickland grounded into a fielder's choice to put runners on the corners, but a hard hit liner to third from Kelsi Kettler was snagged to end the threat.
Oklahoma added the final run on a solo shot to left from Erica Sampson.
Baylor has not scored in the last 26 innings of play.
BU and Oklahoma will wrap up the series on Sunday at Noon at Getterman Stadium. Sunday is Power In Pink Day to bring awareness for breast cancer. The first 500 fans will receive pink Baylor t-shirts.
