CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The No. 9 Baylor softball team (6-1) earned a pair of road victories, sweeping a doubleheader at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (1-6) Sunday afternoon at Chapman Field in Corpus Christi, Texas.

"I am happy that we got two wins because it's never easy to do on the road," head coach Glenn Moore said. "We have quite a bit to work on and I know this team will do that."

GAME ONE
No. 9 Baylor 6, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 1
Tied 1-1, Whitney Canion helped her own cause with a two-RBI double to left center to give the Lady Bears a lead it would never relinquish en route to a 6-1 win.

Kathy Shelton paced BU offensively, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Holly Holl added a pair of hits and RBI.

Baylor got on the board in the first on a wild pitch that scored Turk from third. Corpus Christi tied it in the fourth on a solo home run from Cassie Carrol over the left field wall. The blast was the first run given up by Canion in her first 17.0 innings this season.

Following Canion's two-run double, Baylor opened the gap in the sixth. Shelton hit an RBI-double to right center to score Shelbi Redfearn to make it 4-1. Kayce Walker followed with a slap hit that stopped right in front of home plate, and following the catcher's throw to first, allowed Shelton to score at the unmanned base. With Walker at second, Holl singled for an RBI to make it 6-1.

Canion (3-0) earned the win after going 6.0 innings, allowing three hits, one run, six walks and striking out seven.

GAME TWO
No. 9 Baylor 3, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 0

Courtney Repka, who had a perfect game thru 5.0 innings, gave up just one hit and one walk in a complete-game shutout to help lead Baylor to a 3-0 win in game two.

Kelsi Kettler and Jordan Strickland each registered a pair of hits, while Shelton extended her hit streak to 12 games and has reached safely in 23-straight.

Shelton led off the game with a single, and after stealing second, advanced to third on a single from Walker, who stole second to reach scoring position. A wild pitch scored Shelton, and Holl added an RBI-double to make it 1-0.

Repka (2-0) maintained her perfect game until Heller led off the sixth with a chopper over third. The junior allowed just the one hit to go with one walk and five strikeouts.

The Lady Bears final insurance run came in the sixth off the bat of Redfearn, who was just inches from clearing the wall, but settled for an RBI-double that scored Delaney Guy for the 3-0 lead.

Baylor will host Northwestern State for a Tuesday doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
