2011 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Teams 
NORMAN, Okla. - Baylor men's golf seniors Joakim Mikkelsen and Lorenzo Scotto were named 2011 Division I Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Wednesday.
Mikkelsen and Scotto become the 11th and 12th All-America Scholar honorees, respectively, in program history. Bill Allcorn was Baylor's last Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar, doing so in both 2007 and 2008. Baylor has seven Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars under ninth-year head coach Greg Priest.
A native of Drammen, Norway, Mikkelsen posted one of the best individual junior seasons in program history. He led the Bears in every major statistical category, including rounds counted (97.1 percent), scoring average (72.35), score vs. par (1.03) and rounds of par or better (15). He posted nine top-25 finishes in 11 tournaments, while adding three top-10 and five top-15 finishes as well. His 72.35 scoring average is the seventh-lowest single-season mark in program history. In three seasons, Mikkelsen owns a 73.00 scoring average in 38 career tournaments (115 rounds) and has posted six top-five, 11 top-10, 18 top-15 and 26 top-25 finishes.
In May, Mikkelsen, a speech communication major, became the first Baylor Bear to earn PING All-Central Region honors in consecutive seasons. A four-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll member, he has been named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team in each of the last two seasons.
Scotto, a native of Pordenone, Italy, posted a 75.15 scoring average in 26 rounds during the 2010-11 season. A double-major in distribution management and technology and international business, Scotto is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, including first-team honors in each of the last two seasons. He has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll for five consecutive semesters. Scotto owns a 74.20 career scoring average in 33 tournaments (97 rounds), including three top-10, six top-15 and 14 top-25 finishes.
A total of 138 players in Division I, 49 in Division II and three in NAIA earned All-America Scholar honors by Cleveland Golf/Srixon. Additionally, 20 honorees were added to the previously released Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must:
- be a junior or senior academically,
- compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level,
- participate in 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championship,
- have a stroke average under 76.00 in Division I (78.00 in Division II and NAIA and 79.00 in Division III), and
- maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 in Division I, II and III and 3.5 in NAIA.
A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college of university.
Baylor opens its 2011-12 season Sept. 4-5 with the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate, hosted by Missouri in Verona, N.Y.
