WACO, Texas - Baylor baseball has been selected as the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Houston Regional that begins Friday at Rice's Reckling Park.
"We are excited to be in," head coach Steve Smith said. "I am proud of our players, proud for Baylor. We get to extend our season and have a chance to play to go to Omaha."
Due to the limited number of tickets available to Baylor for the Houston Regional, the Baylor ticket office is only able to accommodate the ticket needs for the players and coaching staff. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets directly through Rice.
Tickets will initially be sold as All-Session reserved seat packages only. This package includes tickets to each game with a maximum of seven possible games. If single-game tickets are available, they will go on sale later in the week.
Reckling Park has reserved seating in lettered sections and general admission bleachers down both base lines and beyond the left-field wall.
With its at-large bid to the 2011 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, Baylor became one of 14 schools nationally to be selected for at least 12 NCAA Tournaments since 1998. Texas is the only other Big 12 Conference team on the list.
The Bears take on third-seeded California in Friday's opening round. Rice and No. 4 seed Alcorn State will also meet on Friday and the winners of the first two games meet Saturday for a spot in Sunday's championship round, while the losing teams from the opening round will play an elimination game Saturday.
Game times have not yet been announced. Check back with www.baylorbears.com for additional details as they become available.
