Recap | Box Score

Head Coach Steve Smith

On Josh Turley`s pitching tonight:
"I told the team after the game that if yesterday was our best pitching effort we have had this year, then tonight had to be second best. I think Josh Turley had great command and I think Josh Ludy behind the plate did another great job of keeping him in the strike zone. They pitched both sides of the plate well . We made some plays behind him. There were some well struck balls in this game tonight. We were able to make plays tonight, and we were finally able to put an inning together where we could execute. It was a very well pitched ballgame."

On the team`s defensive effort tonight:
"I thought we made some good plays. Landis Ware had a nice ballgame, Jake Miller had another nice game, Steve DalPorto made a great play at second, Logan Vick continues to play well in center field. He gets some pretty good reads off the bat both coming in and going back. We are making routine plays, so from that standpoint we are pretty solid."

On being able to play for the series win tomorrow:
"This was as important of a win for us as we have had all year. We are rubbing right up against a 500 record. Being below 500 is one of those things you can`s overcome. If you finish the year below 500 it doesn`t matter what your RPI is or where you finished in the league. Every game right now is significant for us."

Sophomore LHP Josh Turley

On the game tonight:
"It was a lot of fun. I was getting a little worried there in the first five innings. We were pressing a little bit like we were last night, but once we started hitting the ball we got really comfortable at the plate. Just all around it was a great effort. The defense really stepped up and I am glad we got the job done."

On coming back to the mound after the huge offensive inning:
"I felt like after that inning I lost focus on my mechanics a little bit. I was able to figure out what I was doing wrong and fix it, but you just have to stay focused through the whole game if you have that big inning or if it is still zero zero. I have to go in with the same mindset every inning, that I have got to make pitches and make them hit the ball. I still felt comfortable and I am glad we got the win."

On the game tomorrow:
"We are ready for it. I think we are going to come out here tomorrow and look for the same performance. Brooks Pinckard is going to pitch a great game and our hitters are feeling really good right now so we will see what happens and hopefully we can get a win."
