Head Coach Steve Smith On Brooks Pinckard:
"He was absolutely tremendous. He threw a lot of strike and didn't have any particular inning that gave him fits. I think it was everything that we could hope to get out of him on his second ever start, first time in league play. Their guy was pitching it extremely well. He threw a no hitter and a one hitter through six innings so it was a heck of a ball game."
On Baylor`s crucial hits to get the lead:
"Who would have thought you would have broken up a no hitter with an infield singe to Joey Hainsfurther? If you are the pitcher out there that can get you out of sorts just a little bit, and clearly Max Muncy`s ball got him out of sorts. They went to the pen after that, and their pen did a good job. We had a chance there in the eighth to put a very important third run on the board and they made a great play. I don`t think we could have executed the push any better than that. I don't know if we didn't get a very good jump at third or if they left early at first, but I thought we had that one for sure and they make the play. We didn`t get the call on the double play to get out of the inning but Max Garner hung in there to pitch to the guy who killed us yesterday and pushes it to a full count. He had a tough call, they had runners at second and third on a two two count. You want to pitch to a guy, but you don't want to pitch to a guy. That is a tough place for a pitcher to be sometimes, but he was able to get him to chase his breaking ball to get strike three and that was huge."
Junior RHP Brooks Pinckard On the win:
"That was definitely a team win for us today and pretty exciting and we hope to just be able to build from this win today."
On how he felt on the mound today:
"I was having a blast. The defense was making some great plays behind me and was able to make an inning ending double play which was huge. It was just fun to be out there and fun to watch."
On Max Muncy`s home run:
"It was great to go back out there with the lead and feeling pretty good. That was a clutch hit right there and it was fortunate that we were able to keep the lead and win today."
Sophomore RHP Max Garner On facing Cody Ashe to end the eighth inning:
"I obviously didn`t want him (Cody Ashe) to beat us like he was able to do yesterday so I wasn`t going to give him a pitch that he could really get the barrel to. That is why all the fastballs I threw were off the plate and inside. I tried to backdoor him with my curveball and he just swung so much that I really wanted to throw him one of my pitches that was moving and if he were to of hit the ball or taken it for a ball then more power to him. I just wanted to throw him my pitch and make it my best pitch."
