BRYAN, Texas - After securing its second spring win, the Baylor men's golf team will conclude its regular-season schedule April 16-17 with the Aggie Invitational at The Traditions Golf Club. Live scoring will be available at www.GolfStat.com, while live updates will also be accessible on Twitter by following @AggieInvite.
The 54-hole Aggie Invitational will set up to play on the par-72, 7,146-yard course at Traditions. Baylor will face an 11-team field that includes seven programs ranked in the top 50 according to Golfstat. Baylor, which is ranked No. 46 by Golfstat, is one of six Big 12 schools playing in Bryan - No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 9 Texas A&M, No. 12 Texas, No. 17 Texas Tech and No. 28 Oklahoma.
Last season at the Aggie Invitational, Baylor finished seventh out of 12 teams; Joakim Mikkelsen tied for sixth, shooting 5-under 211, while Lorenzo Scotto tied for 18th at 1-under 215.
Mikkelsen and Scotto anchor Baylor's seven-player lineup for the Aggie Invitational, which will count each team's five lowest scores (college tournaments traditionally count four lowest). Mikkelsen has posted top-five finishes in three of his last four tournaments and leads the team in every major statistical category, including scoring average (71.88), score vs. par (0.50) and rounds or par or better (12).
Scotto returns to the Baylor lineup after missing the Bears' Wyoming Cowboy Classic victory. Also participating at the Aggie Invitational are Jerry Ruiz, Cody Paladino, Ryan O'Rear, Payne Gniewek and Matthew Seligmann. O'Rear ranks second on the team with a 73.10 scoring average, followed by both Ruiz and Gniewek with a 73.25 average. Seligmann will participate as an individual.
Following the Aggie Invitational, the Bears will travel to Hutchinson, Kan., for the 2011 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship, which will be held April 25-27 at Prairie Dunes Country Club.
