Baylor Spring Invitational Results in PDF Format

WACO, Texas - Despite the windy spring conditions, Baylor junior Chelsey Cothran owns a one-stroke lead Monday after the first two rounds of the Baylor Spring Invitational at Twin Rivers Golf Club. Cothran posted Baylor's lowest scores in both rounds, firing a first-round 73, which she followed with a second-round 74 to finish at 3-over-par 147.

Baylor, which held a share of the lead through 18 holes, sits in seventh place after shooting 48-over-par 624. Texas Tech leads the field by 11 strokes at 28-over-par, followed by UTSA in second at 39-over-par and Missouri State in third at 40-over-par.

"Let's just hope we can have a stronger finish Tuesday," Baylor head coach Sylvia Ferdon said. "We have to learn how to finish off our rounds. We haven't done a very good job of that all spring.

"We lost our home course advantage with today's conditions," Ferdon said. "I was proud of the way we played during the first round. Finishing holes is our weakness and we haven't been mentally tough down the stretch."

Playing as an individual, senior Morgan Chambers is tied for 24th overall at 11-over (78-77=155). Fellow senior Lene Hafsten-Morch is at 15-over (77-82=159), good for a 36th-place tie. Defending Baylor Spring Invitational champion Jaclyn Jansen is tied for 44th after shooting 16-over (76-84=160) during Monday's rounds.

Senior Jordan Rhodes is in 56th place at 18-over-par, while individual Kristen Hendrix and Kaylin Terry round out Baylor's competitors in 74th and 76th places, respectively.

"In order for us to have a chance to get back into the thick of things, we need to post a competitive round," Ferdon said. "We need that in order to give us some positives heading into the Big 12 Championship."

The final round of the 2011 Baylor Spring Invitational will tee off Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. CDT shotgun start. Live scoring will be available at www.GolfStat.com.
