UNLV Spring Invitational Results

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Another windy day produced high scores Tuesday as the Baylor women's golf team is tied for seventh overall through 36 holes at the UNLV Spring Invitational.

Baylor, which entered the day tied for eighth, moved up into a seventh-place tie with Colorado State at 32-over after shooting a second-round 307. No. 25 Pepperdine was one of only two teams to shoot under-par Tuesday, shooting 10-under for the round to overtake BYU for a two-stroke lead. BYU is in second place at 11-under-par, while No. 24 Oklahoma is in third at 2-under.

BYU's Kelsey Vines continues to lead the tournament field, widening her lead to four strokes at 8-under-par. Twelve other golfers are under-par through 36 holes.

"I can't explain the play of our two juniors, Chelsey (Cothran) and Jaclyn (Jansen)," head coach Sylvia Ferdon said. "We had a bad start and couldn't recover from it. We've been attacked with different wind directions each day."

After an even-par first round, Lene Hafsten-Morch is tied for 25th at 5-over. Freshman Kaylin Terry and senior Jordan Rhodes are tied for 36th at 8-over. Rhodes carded Baylor's best individual score of Tuesday's second round with a 75. Chelsey Cothran and individual Kristen Hendrix are tied for 49th overall at 11-over. Jaclyn Jansen is tied for 77th at 20-over.

"We can't seem to have three golfers put consistent scores together," Ferdon said. "I hope we can move up some spots Wednesday and hang tough."

For the second straight day, the Lady Bears were plagued by large numbers, registering 11 double-bogeys and one triple-bogey, while carding 14 birdies. Both Cothran and Rhodes netted a team-high four birdies during the second round.

The third and final round of the UNLV Spring Invitational will tee off Wednesday at Boulder Creek Golf Club. Live scoring will be available at www.Golfstat.com.
