Recap | Box Score

Assistant Head Coach Mitch Thompson

On the game:
"I thought it was a really good performance by a whole bunch of guys. That is as good of team win as you are going to see. We had a bunch of guys come in and throw out of the bullpen. (Jon) Ringenberg going out there and going through them in three innings, after not pitching in 10 days and not having his best stuff, but competing. Every guy that went back out there on the mound did a really nice job. We played good defense and we had some really good at-bats. It was a difficult environment to play in tonight. We had people chirping at us all night long, but the guys kept their focus on the field and it is obviously a good win on the road."

On Jon Ringenberg's performance:
"Jon pitched like he knows how to pitch and he kept to his off speed stuff and they were out in front of him, popping balls up. We didn't want to go too far with him. We figured if we'd get three innings out of him that was a good time to get him out. We had a whole bunch of guys come in after that. (Kolt) Browder did a nice job. (Brad) Kuntz came in and even got some good outs there for us too. It was a good win."

On getting two straight wins:
"I think we have a good ball club. We have played a good schedule so far. I look at some teams around the country and going on the road at an SEC school is never easy and then going down and playing at Minute Maid is not easy. We could schedule a lot easier. There are 301 Division I teams, but we are going to schedule and try and create an RPI situation for ourselves. With our conference that will always benefit us at the end of the year. Obviously, we played well here tonight and we played well on Sunday and we will just try to keep doing it one more time in a row, but it is nice to get two in a row though."

Junior Catcher Joey Hainsfurther

On if there was any revenge factor after losing to Texas State last week:
"We talked about it after (last Tuesday's) game: it doesn't matter who we are playing, it is our effort. Our effort last Tuesday was unacceptable. We are a better ball club than that and we know it and we learned from it. We worked hard this past week. We had a good weekend at Minute Maid. We ended on a good win, but we had to flush that. We got after it yesterday, got ready, got focused for this game and I think we came out and did a pretty good job."

On Jon Ringenberg's performance:
"He didn't have his best stuff tonight coming back from injury, so that was great to see. He gave a great effort without his best stuff. He was spotting up and throwing everything for a strike. He got us through those first three innings and then the bullpen did a great job."

On his plate appearances:
"I had two strikes on me a few times and I was just trying to shorten up and really put a good swing on something. I guess I was kind of in a defensive situation, but just trying to stay relaxed and see the ball and put a good swing on it. That is what we are taught to do: get a good pitch and put a good swing on it. I got lucky and got a few hits and found some holes, but I am feeling good at the plate, so I thought we did a good job tonight."

Junior Pitcher Jon Ringenberg

On his start:
"They are a great hitting team. They proved that last week when we played them, putting up 13 runs. I knew I wasn't going to throw a lot of innings today, so I just wanted to go out there and focus on throwing strikes and hitting spots. A ballpark like this it goes out pretty quick, so I was just really focused on keeping the ball down and I got some pop ups and my defense played well today."

On if he felt like his performance set the tone for the team:
"We talked a lot about hitting spots and throwing strikes. To just go out there and do that the first couple of innings showed them that that is really all you have got to do. Focus on that and you are going to get outs."
