BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The Baylor women's golf team will participate in its third event of the spring March 7-9 at the seventh annual UNLV Spring Invitational.

UNLV will host the three-day tournament at the 6,246-yard, par-72 Boulder Creek Golf Club. Aside from Baylor and UNLV, the 15-team field includes Ball State, BYU, Colorado State, Idaho, Nebraska, New Mexico State, North Texas, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Pepperdine, South Dakota State, Tulsa and Wyoming.

Baylor opened its spring season with back-to-back trips to the state of Florida, finishing 11th at the UCF Challenge and 14th at the Central District Invitational.

"It is seldom that we have two bad tournaments in a row, but hopefully we have learned from it and we are ready to right the ship," head coach Sylvia Ferdon said. "We need our seniors to kick into their confidence and get us back on the competitive side of things."

Baylor's lineup for the UNLV Spring Invitational will feature its top four scorers and will be led by juniors Jaclyn Jansen and Chelsey Cothran. The duo will be joined by Lene Hafsten-Morch, Jordan Rhodes and Kaylin Terry; senior Kristen Hendrix will make her season debut, participating as an independent.

Cothran leads the Lady Bears in scoring (74.00), score vs. par (2.00) and rounds of par or better (six). The Springdale, Ark., native has posted top-25 finishes in five of Baylor's six events this season. Jansen ranks second behind Cothran with a 74.17 scoring average and 2.17 score vs. par, while posting a team-best two top-10 finishes.

"Everyone has been positive and has worked hard in practice, so I feel good about this tournament," Ferdon said. "UNLV sets the course up to be very scoreable, so that is also a plus for us."

The Baylor women's golf team returns home March 22 to host Kent State for a dual match at Ridgewood Country Club.
