Recap | Box Score

Head Coach Steve Smith

On Josh Ludy's weekend:
"He has about as good of right handed power as we have right now. They got in on him the first couple of games but he really hit the ball well today. He is giving us some good pop in the lineup. Him being behind Max Muncy is really a good thing. Max is swinging the bat extremely well but not getting a lot to show for it sometimes, but that is going to force people to pitch to him a little bit better and if they go left handed then they are going to have to deal with Josh coming behind him. That is really a pretty big spot in our lineup. It is nice having someone to protect Max"

On Josh Ludy's homerun:
"We hit some balls good and I really think that our guys are doing a tremendous job of just playing the game and adjusting to what the game is asking them to do and I think everybody, all over the country, homeruns will increase as time goes on just as guys get more used to the bats. To me it's very much like the adjustment that guys have always had to make from metal to wood. They will make the change and I am just glad to see a ball like the one (Steve) DalPorto caught didn't fall in because those are the ones that frustrate you. Now you can make a quality pitch and get an out."

On Max Muncy's performance:
"He made three big plays. He made the three to six double plays early. He saved DalPorto probably two errors today and those things don't show up in a box score but those are three big plays that are run savers."

Sophomore RHP Josh Turley

On his pitching performance:
"I think just being relaxed and doing what I do, commanding the zone, and working both sides of the plate with all of my pitches really helped. It definitely helped being able to score a lot of runs in the third inning to kind of ease the tension a little bit. I really just wanted to attack and stay ahead of the batters and if they hit it I would just let my defense work."

On being able to pitch with the team on a winning streak:
"The situation right now with the starting pitchers is that we haven't been pitching too great up until this point. But this weekend we kind of took the ball and took command so just to be able to command the strike zone and to get ahead of batters and let them get themselves out. Being able to get four wins this weekend was great and everybody stepped up and played the game."

Junior Catcher Josh Ludy

On hitting a homerun:
"Well it felt pretty good. I hit the ball pretty well and was able to get a fastball first pitch and got a bit of a lucky bounce there."

On Josh Turley's pitching :
"Today he was able to get ahead of just about every batter he faced. He was able to get ahead with all four pitches and was doing well at getting into the strike zone and then just executing pitches later in the at-bats."
