Head Coach Steve Smith On the game tonight:
"We didn't pitch well. This early in the year, on two days, you don't have as many guys who are ready to pitch either back-to-back days or even back-to-back outings, and that is what happened to us. When (Tyler) Bremer went out of the game, I didn't even want to pitch (Josh) Turley today. Some of these guys had to throw in a game when they haven't even had a day on the mound since their last game. That is largely because our starter just didn't have it on the mound today. I don't think we played poorly, but we did pitch poorly and in baseball that is 80% of the game."
On Texas State's pitching:
"They have some pretty good arms and it was what we expected. There was not anything that we didn't expect."
On the amount of walks tonight:
"We just didn't pitch well all the way around. To give up 16 hits with these bats this year, you pitched badly. Having said that, they have a very good club, they have a veteran offensive team, they are very physical, and they swung the bat well tonight."
Junior OF/RHP Brooks Pinckard
On the game:
"It was a little frustrating. They whooped our butts a little bit. We don't think that we came out as focused as we really needed to and that ended up coming back to bite us."
On the way Texas State played tonight:
"That's a good club over there. They hit the ball extremely well and they have done that all four years that I have been here. Their pitcher today was very good, he located well and did a good job. We just didn't come out playing well. "
Junior Catcher Josh Ludy
On the game tonight:
"It was a disappointing game, but we have got to try and flush it and step up this weekend. We have a big weekend ahead of us and that is what we are looking forward to now."
On his two hits:
"I felt pretty comfortable at the plate again today, and I got a couple of good pitches to hit. I just missed one to left field and missed a ball in the hole in the first inning, but other than that I felt pretty good. ."
