UCF Challenge Results in PDF Format

SORRENTO, Fla. - Baylor women's golf junior Chelsey Cothran is tied for 10th Monday after two rounds of the UCF Challenge at RedTail. The Lady Bears slipped one spot on the leaderboard to 13th place with a two-day score of 23-over (297-302=599).

Cothran, who started the day tied for sixth after a career-low round Sunday, was under-par for the majority of the second round. However, a double-bogey on the par-4 No. 8 pushed her to 1-over for the round. Cothran is one of 11 golfers under-par through 36 holes and is eight strokes behind individual leader Jessica Alexander of Coastal Carolina at 9-under 135.

Coastal Carolina overtook No. 14 Tulane for the overall tournament lead at 2-under 574. No. 35 South Carolina made a major second-round charge, moving from 10th to second at 2-over 578. First-round leader Tulane is third at 3-over 579, followed by Kentucky and No. 37 Minnesota.

"I don't think we had a really good day," head coach Sylvia Ferdon said. "We let some things slip away and we certain can't shoot above 300."

Jaclyn Jansen carded Baylor's best individual second-round performance with an even-par 72. After shooting 1-over-par on the first nine holes, Jansen bounced back with a 1-under over the final nine holes, including an eagle on the par-5 No. 2. The Effingham, Ill., native is tied for 24th at 3-over 147.

"We have to work harder. Hopefully, if we can get something going Tuesday, we can carry that over to our next tournament," Ferdon said. "Chelsey (Cothran) and Jaclyn (Jansen) both had strong rounds. We need to have three golfers in the top 20; otherwise, we aren't going to be competitive."

Senior Jordan Rhodes is tied for 65th at 11-over 155, while freshman Kaylin Terry is tied for 69th at 12-over 156. Senior Lene Hafsten-Morch shot a second-round 78 to finish the day in 86th place.
