WACO, Texas - Baylor baseball will take on Temple College in a fall scrimmage at 2 p.m. Sunday at Baylor Ballpark. The scrimmage is open to the public and there is no charge for admission.
The Bears return 19 letterwinners - including nine pitchers - from a 2010 squad that went 36-24 and finished as the runner-up in the NCAA Fort Worth Regional.
Scheduled to pitch against Temple are returning pitchers Brooks Pinckard, Kolt Browder and Josh Turley, as well as newcomers Tyler Bremer, Brad Kuntz and Trae Davis.
Baylor also returns 2010 Freshman All-Americans Logan Vick and Max Muncy, as well as all-conference honorees Logan Verrett and Joey Hainsfurther. The Bears return four seniors in Landis Ware, Chris Slater, Jon Ringenberg and Tom Filip.
Baylor's 2011 roster features 21 pitchers, including five two-way players and nine newcomers. The Bears also welcome back Max Garner, who sat out the 2010 season after lettering as a true freshman in 2009.
Head coach Steve Smith returns for his 17th season leading the Bears. Last season, Smith led Baylor to its 11th regional appearance since 1998, making it one of only 16 Division I programs to play in at least 11 regionals over the last 13 years.
