Recap | Box Score

Head Coach Steve Smith

On the performance of Willie Kempf:
"He was the key to the whole thing. Shawn (Tolleson) didn't have his best stuff today and it was a tough day to pitch no matter what type of stuff you had. I think that says a whole lot about what Willie did. Being able to save him yesterday allowed us to rest him and have him available today. I think one extra day was pretty important. He threw about 70 pitches on Tuesday and with as durable as he is, I just didn't want to throw him yesterday."

On the offense and the bottom of the order:
"We did (hit the ball well). We got some balls up and took some good swings, particularly the second time through the order. We didn't do much early. Landis' (Ware) first at-bat wasn't very good and (Chris) Slater's first at-bat wasn't very good. Their next at-bats were pretty good. I think Slater drew a walk and Landis hit it out of the park. Later on Slater gets that two-out double off of a pretty good arm. It was good to see those guys down there at the bottom be able to contribute."

Senior RHP Willie Kempf:

On back-to-back come from behind wins
"Today's win was just as satisfying (as the Friday night win). You always worry after such an emotional high that you will be at the other end of the spectrum the next day. With the way things started for us today you kind of got worried early on but we knew the offense was going to come around and a bunch of runs were going to be scored with the way the wind was blowing out today."

On entering the game trailing 5-1:
"I was just trying to stop the bleeding. I knew the offense was going to come around. I knew that if we could hold the score somewhere around (5-1), we were going to score at least five runs today. You could just kind of feel in the dugout after we put up a zero that we could do this. The offense started clicking and the rest is history."

On his performance and striking out the side in the seventh:
"Anytime you go out there you always have the chance to not do well. To have runners on first and second with no outs and then to get three strikeouts, that was fun. I am really glad that the seventh inning might be the last inning that I pitch at Baylor Ballpark. It will be a nice memory for me."

Junior SS Landis Ware

On his homerun:
"I'm not that kind of hitter. I just in the first couple of innings that Oklahoma State put up two and three runs. Their balls were just flying out. I wasn't trying to do anything too big but I knew that if I got the ball in the air that it had a chance. It was a good time of the game to do so."

On the comeback:
"Trailing 5-1 after two innings was kind of a tough spot to put us in. When we tied it up at five, it was a new game and the momentum was on our favor. We finished it after that."

Freshman LF Logan Vick

On his two homeruns:
"I tried to keep my same approach. I got that one ball up and it happened to carry out. With the first homerun, I just squared that ball up and it happened to get out of here. That was probably my best shot of the year. I really squared it up. With a lefty on lefty matchup, he came in on me. I've been having some trouble with the inside pitch but I turned on it, got inside it and was able to get my hands clear and get full extension on the ball."

On the importance of the win heading into next week:
. "It's huge. The wins are building momentum heading into next week. We needed to get on a roll and our bats are coming alive and our pitchers are doing a great job. it is just great because we need to get as much momentum as we can going into next week."
