LUBBOCK, Texas - Friday's series opener between Baylor and Texas Tech and Dan Law Field has been postponed due to heavy rain throughout the day.
The Bears and Red Raiders are now scheduled to play a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. CDT Saturday, weather permitting. Should the teams be able to play both games, the second game will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first contest.
Dan Law Field has a FieldTurf surface that drains better than natural grass, but the continuing rain forced the postponement of Friday's game.
Baylor has played two doubleheaders this season, and the Bears are 4-0 in those games. Baylor took both games against Oral Roberts at home on March 6 and knocked off Missouri in a pair of road games on April 3. Baylor also won its only doubleheader during the 2009 season when it knocked off Missouri twice on April 11 at Baylor Ballpark.
The Bears were scheduled to play a doubleheader in their Big 12 Conference opener at Oklahoma, but the second game was cancelled when rain and snow made the field unplayable with the Bears leading 5-0 in the third inning.
