MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Baylor offense was limited to two runs for the third consecutive game as Kansas State completed a series sweep with a 3-2 win on Sunday afternoon at Tointon Stadium.

The Bears (21-14, 5-8 Big 12) lost 5-2 in each of the first two games of the series, and Sunday's five hits were the most by the Baylor offense in any of the three games.

"They are probably as much frustrated as anything, particularly offensively, because we just struggled so much for three games," head coach Steve Smith said of his players. "I felt they had a really good chance when we got to number three in their rotation - he is not an overpowering guy, but we just couldn't make an adjustment."

Both teams' starting pitchers puts up zeroes in the first two frames, but Kansas State (26-8, 9-3 Big 12) jumped out to a 2-0 lead when it plated two runs on three hits in the third.

Willie Kempf issued a one-out walk to Jake Brown, Adam Muenter singled and Carter Jurica got the Wildcats on the board with a RBI single. Nick Martini followed with a run-scoring double that extended KSU's lead to 2-0, but the Bears threw Jurica out at the plate.

After walking the next batter, Kempf got a groundout to escape the inning, but the Bears couldn't get anything going offensively. Brooks Pinckard's infield single was the only Baylor hit through the first six innings against Kansas State starting pitcher Justin Lindsey.

Kempf issued leadoff walk to Martini in the sixth, and Josh Turley was called in from the bullpen. Turley got a pair of groundouts, but Martini came home to score on a wild pitch to give KSU a 3-0 lead after six.

Joey Hainsfurther singled leading off the second inning, and after Raynor Campbell was retired on a flyout, Lindsey turned the ball over to Justin Rooke.

With Max Muncy batting, Hainsfurther advanced to second base on a passed ball, and Muncy then drilled a 3-0 pitch through the right side for a RBI single, cutting the Bears' deficit to 3-1. However, Rooke held the Bears at bay by retiring the next two batters.

Turley retired the side in order in the bottom of the seventh, and Gregg Glime led off the eighth with a solo homer to cut the lead to 3-2, but the Bears weren't able to complete the comeback.

Glime wasn't retired in any of his three plate appearances, drawing a pair of walks and hitting his fourth home run of the season.

Campbell singled with one out in the ninth, but after Muncy struck out swinging, he was caught stealing to end the game.

Lindsey (3-2) picked up the win after allowing just an unearned run on two hits in 6.1 innings, and Evan Marshall worked a scoreless ninth to notch his first save of the season for the Wildcats.

Kansas State was led at the plate by Blair DeBord and Martini, who both went 2-for-3.

Kempf (4-2) was saddled with the loss after allowing three runs on five hits in 5.0 innings. Turley worked 2.0 innings of one-hit, shutout relief, and Pinckard pitched a scoreless inning for Baylor.

The Bears return home to take on Sam Houston State at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Baylor Ballpark. Baylor travels to Texas State on Wednesday, and then the Bears resume Big 12 Conference play by hosting Nebraska for a three-game set.
