UNLV Spring Invitational Live Scoring at GolfStat.com

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Six days after finishing fifth at the UCF Challenge, the Baylor women's golf team heads west March 8-10 for UNLV Spring Invitational.

The par-72, 6,246-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club is the site for the 18-team tournament which will feature 18 holes and 7:30 a.m. PST start times on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com. Defending champion and host UNLV leads a competitive field that includes Ball State, BYU, Campbell, Idaho, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Oregon State, Portland State, Texas, Texas State, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UNLV, Washington State, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

"I am very pleased with the start to our spring season," Baylor head women's golf coach Sylvia Ferdon said. "We still have not played our best golf as a team.

"Our depth has been a key to us being competitive," Ferdon said. "Hannah (Burke) had an off-tournament and we still finished well last week in Florida, beating teams we need to beat to secure an NCAA Regional bid."

For the second consecutive tournament, senior Hannah Burke and junior Lene Hafsten-Morch will anchor a young Lady Bears lineup that includes sophomores Chelsey Cothran, Jaclyn Jansen and freshman Melanie White.

At last week's UCF Challenge, Cothran registered just the second top-10 finish of her career, finishing tied for sixth with a career-low 5-over 221. Cothran's sixth-place finish is tied for the best showing of her career. She finished tied for sixth at the Maxwell-Berning Classic in spring 2009.

Burke, the only Lady Bear to have all 19 rounds count towards the team score, leads Baylor with a 73.16 stroke average, while carding a team-best eight rounds of par or better. The senior has finished in the top-15 in five of Baylor's seven tournaments this season.

Cothran and Jansen are the only other Lady Bears to have played in Baylor's first seven tournaments. Cothran ranks second behind Burke with a 75.26 stroke average, followed by Jansen in third at 75.68.

After playing in the UNLV Spring Invitational, Baylor will return west two weeks later March 26-27 for the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz.
