Recap | Box Score
Head Coach Steve Smith On performance from Shawn Tolleson:
"I thought Shawn (Tolleson) deserved a much better fate. We didn't play well behind him. Some of it was errors and some of it was just an inability to make routine plays that extended innings. The thing that got him out of the game was his pitch count. We pushed him past 100 pitches and most of that was due to not being able to turn double plays, catch a fly ball or come get a ground ball. We just extended innings by just not making plays."
On the offensive production:
"I didn't think we hit the ball well at all. I think we maybe hit four or five balls hard the whole game. Even when we had a couple of runs we weren't hitting the ball. We are not swinging the bat very well right now. We pitched well enough tonight. This was a very winnable game. It is very disappointing to lose it because we lost just not being able to play the game of baseball."
On the play of Raynor Campbell:
"Raynor is playing well right now. Raynor is giving us what you expect to get out of somebody that has been playing the game as long as he has."
Junior RHP Shawn Tolleson
On his performance:
"I felt like I had pretty good stuff today. I made a couple of mistakes and they took advantage of them and hit some line drives into the outfield. It is frustrating because I am just going out trying to help my team win and we didn't do that."
On the mindset of the team during the five game losing streak:
"We're alright. We are not really freaking out or anything. We just have to play better. The only reason we are losing is because other teams are playing better than us. It is nothing about team spirit or focus, we just have to come out and play better."
Senior 3B Raynor Campbell
On his confidence at the plate:
"I am seeing the ball pretty well. I think my timing is the biggest thing. My timing is on right now so I am feeling really confident at the plate."
On the game and the outlook for the rest of the weekend:
"You can't come out here and expect to win a game when you make four errors. They are not going to give you the game. You are going to have to play baseball. You are going to have to throw the ball, catch the ball and you are going to have to put the ball in play. One thing that I told the team was that this was the first game of a four-game weekend. We need to flush this and come out firing tomorrow. It is a long season and hopefully we can turn this around."
