WACO, Texas – Baylor baseball’s May 2 game against Texas at UFCU Disch-Falk Field will be televised on Fox College Sports, the Big 12 Conference announced Thursday. The game, which was originally scheduled for 1 p.m. CT, has been pushed back to 2:30 p.m.
The Bears will be playing on FCS for the third time in program history. Baylor will be looking for its first win in a game televised on FCS, as the Bears lost both games previously aired by the network. The Bears fell to seventh-ranked Nebraska, 14-1, at Baylor Ballpark on April 26, 2008, and then dropped a 2-0 decision to the Longhorns in Austin on May 3 of the same season.
Since 1988, the Bears have played 67 games on television, including five during the 2009 season, and hold a 29-38 record in televised games. Baylor is 4-14 in games televised on the FSN family of networks.
Fox College Sports is a set of three national college sports networks, FCS Atlantic, FCS Central and FCS Pacific. It is available to viewers in the nation’s 25 largest cities and to approximately 54 million homes overall.
The contest with Texas is the Bears’ only televised game of the 2010 season, but the Big 12 said additional television appearances are possible through other Big 12 broadcast partners, and will be announced at a later time.
Baylor opens the 2010 season Feb. 19-21 with QTI Apparel’s Opening Weekend Classic. The Bears will play a pair of games against both Duke and 22nd-ranked Georgia.
