Alamo Invitational First Round Results in PDF Format

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team is in eighth place Sunday after the first round of the Alamo Invitational at Briggs Ranch Golf Club.

Baylor, which shot an opening-round 15-over 303, is 12 strokes behind leader and 17th-ranked Colorado, which shot 3-over 291 during Sunday's first round. No. 38 TCU is second at 6-over 294, followed by No. 42 Texas A&M in third at 8-over 296 and No. 13 Tulane in fourth at 9-over 287. Host UTSA and 18th-ranked Notre Dame are tied for fifth at 10-over 298.

"We're not entirely out of it, but for whatever reason, we don't play these style of greens very well," head coach Sylvia Ferdon said. "We didn't play our best round of golf Sunday."

TCU's Brooke Beeler and Colorado's Emily Talley were the only golfers to record sub-par first rounds. Beeler and Talley are tied for the individual lead through 18 holes at 5-under 67. Five golfers are tied for third place at even-par 72.

Baylor seniors Lene Hafsten-Morch and Morgan Chambers are tied for 10th place after firing matching opening-round scores of 2-over 74. Hafsten-Morch, who carded her first collegiate victory at the Price's "Give `Em Five" on Oct. 13, netted a team-best five birdies Sunday.

"We still have two more days and we need to somehow make up those five shots that separate us from the top five," Ferdon said. "I didn't see a lot of putts drop during the first round either, but we can make up for it these next two days."

Junior Jaclyn Jansen is tied for 36th at 5-over 77, while junior Chelsey Cothran is tied for 45th at 6-over 78. Freshman Kaylin Terry is tied for tied for 65th, while senior Jordan Rhodes is tied for 73rd.

The second round of the Alamo Invitational will tee off at 11 a.m. CDT Tuesday at Briggs Ranch. Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com.
