WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's golf team is ranked 27th in the first Golfstat NCAA Division I Head-to-Head Standings released earlier this week.
Baylor, which participates at the 2009 Wolverine at Radrick Farms Sept. 26-27 in Ann Arbor, Mich., is ranked 38th nationally in the initial Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings released Tuesday.
In its two tournaments to start the fall campaign, the Bears finished fifth out of 15 teams at Golfweek's Conference Challenge in Riverside, Iowa. Baylor followed it up with a fourth-place finish at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, N.M. The Bears were paced in both tournaments by a pair of 12th-place finishes from Michigan State transfer Payne Gniewek.
In the initial Golfweek/Sagarin Men's Individual Collegiate Ratings, Gniewek is ranked No. 123 nationally. The Trenton, Mich., native leads all Bears with a 71.67 stroke average through six rounds.
