2009-10 Baylor Women's Golf Schedule

WACO, Texas - Baylor women's golf released its 2009-10 schedule with the Baylor Spring Invitational as the highlight to the 10-tournament slate, head coach Sylvia Ferdon announced Friday.

"This is one of the most competitive schedules we have had for our program," Ferdon said. "We acquired invitations via some top 25 programs and that is a reflection of having a had a successful season.

"We have the fire power on our team to meet this challenge, so I am looking forward to this coming season."

The Lady Bears open the season with three straight tournaments outside the state of Texas. Baylor will compete at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic Sept. 14-15 in Fort Collins, Colo., and the Ron Moore Collegiate Sept. 21-23, in Littleton, Colo. The New Mexico State hosted Price's "Give-Em Five" Invitational follows Oct. 12-14 in Las Cruces, N.M. Baylor will play in the Alamo Invitational Oct. 26-27 in San Antonio before wrapping up its fall schedule Nov. 2-3 in the Challenge at Onion Creek in Austin.

"We open the spring with a strong tournament in Puerto Rico," Ferdon said. "A good finish there can give us momentum into what will be a very competitive spring season and it's nice to see us ending it all with a home tournament."

Baylor opens its spring schedule Feb. 7-9 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Purdue in Rio Grande, P.R., before participating at the UCF Invitational in Sorrento, Fla., March 1-2. The Lady Bears then head west again for two more tournaments - the UNLV Spring Invitational (March 8-10) and the Mountain View Collegiate (March 26-27). Baylor concludes its spring schedule with the Baylor Spring Invitational April 12-13 at Twin Rivers Golf Club in Waco.

The 2010 Big 12 Women's Golf Championships will be held at the Jimmy Austin Golf Club in Austin, Texas, April 23-25. The NCAA Regional tournaments are set for May 8-10, while the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships are May 18-21 at The Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
