TEMPE, Ariz. - The Baylor women's golf team wrapped up its 2008-09 season with a 15th place showing at the NCAA West Regional following a third and final round 294 Saturday afternoon in Tempe, Ariz.

Host school and No. 1 ranked Arizona State took home top team honors with a three-round total of 842 (273-283-286). USC, LSU, TCU. UC Irvine, Texas, Arizona and Pepperdine also qualified from the West Regional for the NCAA Women's Golf Championships to be held in Owings Mills, Md., May 19-22. UC Davis' Alice Kim and Catherine Bristow from Oregon earned the top two individual qualifying spots.

"I'm really proud of the girls' efforts today. We struggled yesterday, but I felt we rebounded very well and finished on a good note," said head coach Sylvia Ferdon. "Our middle round was the one that left us out of the picture for the top eight, but overall, we still performed very well.

"Four of the five players in our lineup for the Big 12 Championships and this NCAA West Regional were underclassmen, so it was a good experience for them. That's only going to help us moving forward as we aim for another regional appearance next season."

Hannah Burke carded an even-par, 72 to finish a team-best 1-over for the championships. Burke's 18th place finish is the best for a Lady Bear at an NCAA Regional since Josefin Svenningsson finished fourth in 2004. Lene Hafsten-Morch continued her strong showing at the NCAA West Regional with a third-round 76 to finish at 226 (75-75-76).

Jordan Rhodes turned in the best round of her collegiate career with a 1-under, 71 during play on Saturday. With the sub-par third round, Rhodes, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, finished the championships tied for 82nd with a three-day 232 (85-76-71).

Rounding out play for the Lady Bears was freshman Chelsey Cothran and sophomore Morgan Chambers. Cothran tallied a third-round 75, while Chambers finished tied for 98th overall at 240 (78-83-79).
